What a COCK!!!!!!

Well there are a couple of reasons for the title, so the chickens have landed. We went to Hatherleigh farmers market last tuesday as it was poultry day. How hard could it be to buy some chicks??????

WHAT an experience.... if you fancy seeing some of Devon's finest charaters it's well worth the 20min drive.... The Auctioneer was an odd looking 60+ gay man with a blond/gold wig on on and plenty of gold necklaces and rings!!!! Don't look him in the eyes ! Don't look him in the eyes ! Some fella brought a Geese for £20.00 without knowing ( he was talking to his wife, and apperantly bidding at the same time). Mr Wiggy wasn't impressed!

So Niki & I had a look around whilst giggling and decided on a couple of lots! Niki went to get some coffee and our 1st lot came up, i'm striaght in there like a UKIP candidate in Bangladesh!!!! £5.00 was my opening bid and bidding begain with another chap.... We won! Bingo i've brought a lovely pair of Light Sussex Hens so i thought... When the coffee arrived i showed off our new Girls to Niki.... "You do realise you've brought a hen and cockrel" Course i do was the reply??????? in my haste i didn't really listen ( as is the case most of the time) to Mr Wiggy. So after an eventful day we came home with 5 hens and "Tikka" the Cockrel, His hen "Masala" the other four have been called Thai, Pad, Sour & Sweet.

We arrived home and put the chicks in the pen, i preordered a 10 bird chicken coop of the interweb, which would if been great of you were keeping Budgies, but 6 chicks was a bit of a squeeze so out came the tools and i knocked up Cluckingham Palace for Tikka and his flock who have all settle in. After the first day we had our first egg...... I did the sums and thought "jesus that's cost over £200 for that egg!!!!"

So the fishing!!! we'll the carp just haven't been showing for the past couple of weeks, since they spawned and the low pressure we have had on us not much has been happening on the carp front! Plenty of cold rain hitting the lakes, the bream, Tench, Crusians, Rudd have been on the feed, but no perch have been caught this week. This high spell should do us some good. I wouldn't be surprised if they spawn again, so will keep you updated!

I'm off for an omlete!
